The weather in DC has been kinda crappy lately. It hasn’t really felt like summer for the past few weeks and the rest of this week is calling for rain. This is forcing me to look back at some of my old shoots and see if I can find something worth while.

So, I know I have lots of images of the Jefferson, but this one is kinda different than the others because this is the back side of the memorial. A side that isn’t viewed very often.

This was taken at the same time as this image. The difference now is that I think this post processing is better. As this daily blog continues, I can tell a huge difference in my work from when I first started (back in January). It’s really unbelivable to see. Sometimes I’m think to myself, “Wow I can’t believe I took that image”. It makes me really grateful for being able to do what I do and I know that its only going to get better and I can’t wait!

Happy Weekend!
Hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend. This past week has been a really fun for me. First off, I filmed a new video about 4 essential lenses for nature, landscape, and travel photographers:

Here are my images from the past week:
One of my favorite Great Falls images I’ve taken to date.
Here’s a rather cloudy shot of the Capitol, the morning after Hurricane Irene.
When I think about Cozumel, I think about this.
Towards the end of the week, I decided to practice my macro. I think its really important to be good at various types of photography. So, heres an image of two red flowers. Then I posted my very first water droplet image!

Last week State of NOVA was so awesome and posted my image from Old Town Alexandria.

Am I the only one who’s sad that it’s almost the end of the summer? But the exciting part is that Hurricane Irene is suppose to hit. It is it really photographer-ish of me to be excited for cloudy skys, and beautiful sunrises and sets. And who knew we would get an earth quake in DC?

Watch me talk about it in my vlog here:

This past week, I had a great time shooting the weather.
First I showed you guys an image I took back in June of Kenilworth Aquatic Garden’s Water Lilies.
Then I didn’t plan on taking this shot, but I’m really happy with all the color in it. It’s a view of Rosslyn, VA from DC.
At the same time I took that shot, I took this image of the Washington Memorial at sunset. I went back to this same spot the next morning and took of a picture of the Tidal Basin at Sunrise.
Last, but not least, I visited Alexandria, VA for a sunrise image. You can definitely tell something is coming our way.

Hope everyone stays safe this weekend!

The calm before the storm.

So, Hurricane Irene sounds like its going to be huge! I can’t wait! Can you imagine all the photo possibilities? Of course, I hope everyone is safe but I can’t wait to take some sunrise and sunset images 🙂

This was taken this morning at sunrise. It was so nice being outside, the weather was really cool but not cold. Just being by the water was so peaceful. It’s a great way to start the morning.

This is sunrise and this is sunset. Days like this you can’t help but think, “DC is a beautiful city”.

I was intending on getting a different shot this morning, but when I was walking past the Tidal Basin, I couldn’t help but stop and take a picture. It was way too good to pass up.
