Finally, the water lilies have bloomed. I’ve been waiting for this day for two months now and I can’t believe how tall they are. They were probably up to my elbow. I always thought water lilies were just above the water surface. Is that just a different breed?

Out of all the times I’ve been to the Jefferson Memorial (here and here), I’ve never been that pleased with my interior shots. Although all those columns let in natural light, the staute itself is pretty dark and its pretty difficult to capture it with a handheld camera. I figured the only way I could do it was to go really early in the morning, when no tourists are there, and hopefully get a few shots in with my tripod before Capitol Police caught me. It took them about 10 minutes to figure out I was there but I was lucky to get a few shots in before I had to put away my tripod.

Its pretty cool how laid back Philly is. Kids of all ages are allowed to go wade in the water fountains. I was so surprised when I saw a little kid in here. I thought for sure he was going to get arrested! – Thats how you know you’ve been in DC too long, you think a little kid is going to get arrested.
