Three Things

Christmas Gift Guide for Photographers 2016

A guide for any level of photographer. All of my personal favorites.

Practical gifts
1. These Rocket Air Blaster:  are pretty awesome. They blow out air but won’t suck it back in. Awesome to clean those little dust spots on lenses or mirrors. I have 2.
2. SD Cards  So simple, yet so necessary. You can’t get more practical than that.
3. Domke Protective Wrap makes it super easy to take your camera or lenses on the go and keep them protected.
4. When I travel I like to keep all my cords and electronic things together. This Travel Electronic Organizer  is perfect.
5. It’s important to stay hydrated and comfortable while out shooting. The Swell Water Bottle will help keep your water tasty.
6. Gorilla pod tripods are cool because they can support the weight of DSLRS but I’d still be a little careful with it depending on the lens. Super fun to get creative angles with this.

Fun gifts

7. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert is about you and your creativity. 5 stars. Highly recommended.
8. These Personalized Greeting Cards by Moo are such great quality. I mean the paper is so nice and thick plus they have lots of other great personalized gifts.
9. I love this JBL Speaker. I listen to it all the time while editing my images and blast it when I’m in the shower.
10. Another essential to keeping comfortable while taking pictures. These Rainboots are comfortable to walk in all day.
11. Fujifilm Instax Printer I have S-1 but the S-2 looks even cooler. I love being able to take pictures on my phone but print them out on this Polaroid film.

I imagine if I were a guy, this is what I’d look like from behind. After I was done taking my DSLR images, Ill out my iPhone and take a few pics with that. I always text them to Andrew. I don’t know why. I think it’s partly to let him know I’m ok but also to show him all the cool stuff he’s missing out on, like an approaching storm thats about to hit the Washington Monument.

Three things I was grateful for this week:

1. Being able to fly back to Taiwan and see family I haven’t seen in almost 8 years.

2. New found joy in Snapchat. Seriously, I’m having so much fun on there! (Username: abpanphoto)

3. Starting a new book called Creative Confidence. I’m currently reading it on the plane.

You can’t go to San Francisco without getting an image of the Golden Gate Bridge, right? Here’s my version taken from Battery Spencer one evening in Sausalito.

Hope you all have a great weekend! I’ll be hiding from the rain most of the time but before that, here are 3 things I was grateful for this week:

1. 500 px and Fuji Film photowalk. Thanks to DC Focused for hosting!

2. The super moon and seeing awesome images of it from around the world

3. Being home and sleeping in my own cozy bed 🙂

Home from an amazing trip out west. I still feel like I’m recovering from the lack of sleep I got and all the fun I was having. So this weekend is reserved for rest and photo editing 🙂

Here’s an image I took on my second day in San Francisco. I headed up to Twin Peaks for sunrise and was surprised to see about 10 other people already there. Half of them were there for photography while the other half had obviously been there all night partying. So this lead to some interesting conversations about UFOs, moroccan food, and Lucy Liu. Don’t ask. I have no idea either.

I didn’t get to talk to this woman but I’m positive she has some interesting stories of her own 🙂

Here are 3 things that made me so happy this past week:

1. Connecting with friends from the Arcanum and all our photo adventures

2. Meeting Anelise in real life and surprising Ana at her awesome new store in Sacramento

3. Climbing down a steep hill in Muir Woods with Kyle and his wife Danielle to take some funny pictures with trees. More about that one later.

Finally finalized all my travel arrangements to San Francisco next week! I’ve never been so last minute before. It’s all exciting and kinda hard to believe. So, if you’re in the bay area try to come out to the last stop on Trey’s Photowalk tour. It will be a great time!

Three things that I am grateful for:

1. Celebrating the beautiful life of Donald Hulbert at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.

2. Discussing my plans for Sphere 2 with some new & old friends

3. #neverforget My family and friends who are safe and for the brave individuals who have risked their lives to keep us that way. Thank you.
