This was taken the other day at Great Falls National Park. Can you tell its one of my favorite places to shoot? I went to the park on this particular day because it had been raining on and off all day. I thought I could get a cool sunset out of the storm clouds but it was way too humid and cloudy to get anything.
My preference is definitely the Virginia side. Although I’ve been to the Maryland side only a few times, I feel like you can really explore the VA side a lot more. But I knew I had to come back because Maryland would be better for sunset. This image was taken at twilight.
If you look closely, can you spot a little friend?
Here’s my behind the scenes look behind my images:
Now that I’m back home, the heat wave has been seriously affecting my images. It’s hard to get a nice sunset or sunrise. So I figured I could go to one of my favorite spots for pictures and shoot the water at Great Falls. While I was there I ran into this pretty butterfly that I just had to capture.
This past week was amazing for my work: I was in FamousDC for my Capitol Sunrise
It is HOT! Not really temperature hot, but humidity hot. This whole week I’ve been trying to get up to take some good sunrise shots, but the humidity has been blocking the sun, so I had to come up with something good. I thought Great Falls might be the best solution, if I focus in on the water the I wouldn’t necessarily have to have too much of the sky in the image. What do you think?
Thanks to my friend, Tony who told me about this place. I’m embarassed to say that I used to live really close to this waterfall but never knew about it.
This is one of my favorite shots from this day because it reminds me of fireworks in the sky. Watch me try to find this beautiful spot: http://youtu.be/JzwDCOZhbQo
