Last week I decided I was try to spend sometime taking pictures of the Washington Monument all lit up. Since the monument is all covered in scaffolding, the city decided it would be a good idea to light it up at night. When I first saw it, it kind of reminded me of the eiffel tower. What do you think of it?
These are those type of shots that you have to be extremely patient. Especially since this was taken during sunset and there were so many tourist groups around. I probably waited to get this shot for at least 10 minutes.
The sunrise this morning by the Washington Monument.
At first, I was going to try to go to the Air Force Memorial but the parking I usually go to closed down. It was a last minute decision to go to the monument. I’m glad I did because I think this view would have been more colorful than by the Air Force Memorial.
I’m not sure why, but I’ve been visiting the reflecting pool a lot. Its such an iconic place to be. With the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean Memorial and view of the Monument all right there. It’s most definitely one of my favorite places to photograph for sunrise and sunset.
After raining all night, the streets were lined with puddles. I thought this made an interesting shot of the Washington Monument.
Last week I arrived at the tidal basin supppeeerrrr early to in hopes to get a good parking spot 🙂
It also allowed me to capture these beautiful colors before the sun was about to rise.
