I always get tons of emails and messages about what to do in DC. So I thought I’d make these quick little guides to make life easier. Here are some different ways to enjoy the Lincoln Memorial.

lincoln memorial, arlington memorial parkway, bridge, traffic, lights, car, trails, sunrise, early morning, washington dc

The Lincoln Memorial is the most visisted memorial in DC. I’d recommend going as early as possible so there’d be less people crowding you. The best part is that the memorial is open 24 hours so you can go any time of the day.

The interior is just as beautiful as the exterior. This was taken at sunrise so Lincoln is feeling that early morning glow.

You can also walk around the entire memorial and see gorgeous views of the Washington Monument, the Tidal Basin and Arlington, VA

Here’s a cool view of the Lincoln Memorial from the top of the Washington Monument

It’s not uncommon to see ducklings enjoying the reflecting pool in the spring/summer time.

And if you’re lucky enough to be in the city for the fourth of July, the GW parkway off of Roosevelt island is a great place to watch the fireworks.

Walk underneath the columns for the visitor center to learn more about honest Abe. And a tip for the ladies- the bathrooms are clean 🙂

What’s your favorite part about the Lincoln Memorial? Don’t forget to share this with your friends who are planning their visit to Washington DC.

If you have a choice to fly in and out of an airport in the DC area, Id say Reagan National.

First of it is gorgeous. I remember when I was younger and there was only terminal A. Its this old, small building that was not fun at all. However terminal B is soo nice. I love walking through the hallway of windows and getting excited by all the planes that are parked outside.

Second reason to fly out of Reagan, the awesome views at take off and landing. Theres no other way to get an ariel view of the DC area so you might as well as take advantage of the awesomely located airport.

Last reason to fly out of Reagan National- better food options. ‘Nuff said.

When you’re out shooting in DC as much as I am, it gets difficult to find new perspectives. I’m so glad I stumbled across this one of the Washington Monument. Its at the George Mason Memorial, across the street from the Tidal Basin. It’s not a small memorial and I walk past it all the time, but I never really stopped to take a look around.

Since the Kutz Bridge is STILLLL under construction and you can’t walk on it, I found a spot to stand next to it 🙂

Three Things I’m grateful for this week:

1. Some sunny days after so many rainy days.

2. Finished reading The Untethered Soul and now onto Big Magic. Both great reads so far 🙂

3. I’ve been feeling sick this week so I’m glad it’s the weekend and I can get some rest

Did you ever just lay on the grass and try to come up with funny shapes and things that were formed in the sky? I still do that pretty often when I’m out shooting. Not the laying in the grass part, but sometimes Ill try to see if I see anything in the clouds. If I were to do the same thing with this image, I’d say that it looks like a blue leopard. Rawrrr.
