Happy Happy Merry New Years Eve!!
So it’s that time of the year where every photographer goes through the archives and picks out their top 10 favorite images from the past year. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as hard as I expected. I only had to narrow down my top 10 from a selection of 16.
Does that mean I don’t like my own pictures? No. I think I’m just super picky about my all time favs.
So here it is… in alphabetical order (because that’s how my computer selected them)…

I absolutely love the lighting in this image. It looks like the blue heron is some mystical creature or something 🙂 I also really like the little ripple in the water.

A different view of the monument on a crazy cloudy morning at the cherry blossoms. I also really like how the light reflected from the sky into the water is making the trees look purple.

This one is special to me because it marks new learning. Towards the end of the year, I spent some time trying to improve my photo skills and this was the first image I used to practice. What do you think?

It’s not often you see the monument cut off (except for the above cherry blossom picture) BUT I love all the lines in this image. From the monument to the clouds leading your eye around the image.

I remember taking this picture. HAHA. I had left my tripod attachement on a different camera so I was walking around with the tripod legs and leaning my camera against it so I could keep the shots perfectly in frame.

I remember thinking this wasn’t a very exciting sunrise. I had to do something to make the image more interesting and thought maybe the traffic lights was just the thing I needed. I had tried to take this same image before, I think last year, but it wasn’t as successful. Goes to show you gotta keep trying.

This picture is probably the reason why you know me. Most of all, it carries sentimental value for me and thats why this image had to be in the top 10.

But this one is probably my favorite of the two. There’s the fog and wreaths in the picture that you just don’t get very often. I was so lucky to catch an amazing sunrise twice at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

My all time favorite macro image. I was hanging out at the National Botanical garden for 3 days in a row during the orchid exhibit. They have to be one of my favorite flowers and I love the bokeh in this shot.
