night photography

farris wheel, night photography, festival, carnival, vienna, virginia, lights, abpan, angela b. pan

This farris wheel was from Viva Vienna a few weeks ago. Here’s an image of the carousel I captured. At first I was happy with the original image because there was a building behind it, which made it slightly distracting. After thinking about it so more, DUH, just crop it out.

Check out my vlog from Memorial Day weekend when I visited the festival.

library of congress, washington dc, night photography, fountain, long exposure, hdr, angela b. pan, abpan

This was my second time at the Library of Congress. The first time was in the middle of the afternoon and I tried to capture the fountain, but never posted anything because I was never really satisfied by the image.

I finally got the idea to go at night. I figured the contrast of the dark night with the spotlights and water would look really good in HDR. I think my favorite part of this image are the details. I love looking at the different parts of the fountain and discovering something new.

georgetown, washington dc, night photography, cars, lights, landscape, wide-angle, angela b. pan, abpan

I’ve been planning this shot for a while now. I orginially had the idea for this shot in the winter, so everytime I went to Georgetown I brought my camera with me. But then there was something about the cold air, cars flying by and the fact that this shot would look the same in the winter and in the summer that convinced me that I could delay it for a few months.

This past week, Serendiptiy 3 opened in Georgetown and my Boyfriend and I had to go. We missed out in Vegas so I was really excited to eat some good ice cream and finally get this shot.

carousel, vienna, va, night photography, lights, hdr, festival, memorial day, angela b. pan, abpan

Every year, Vienna, VA has a festival called Viva Vienna. It’s a really fun event for familys and kids of all ages. I was excited to find out that it was going on during Memorial Day weekend. I wasn’t excited about the games, food or anything like that. I wanted to go at dark for some cool night shots.

My favorite part of this image is the carousel operator sitting in the middle. It would be really hard to see him if this was a short exposure, but I wanted to get the light traveling so this was 15 seconds long.

Check out other things I did during Memorial Day weekend in my latest vlog seen here. Please subscribe 🙂
