So how do we feel about the snow that’s going to hit the east coast this weekend? Yesterday the lady who was returning my stuff at Target was telling me that she thinks its going to be 14-23″. I don’t know about that, but I do think it’s going to be pretty significant. On one side I’m excited because it’s so fun to watch Frankie play in the snow but on the other side, I had some pretty awesome plans for the weekend that may be cancelled 🙁

Last week my friend Erin texted me and said that she was going to be in town. She was traveling to DC for a meeting near the White House but had a few hours to kill before it actually started. So I suggested we grab a few drinks at the POV lounge in the W hotel. Great views and great drinks, what could be better for some girl friends to catch up? After some laughs and cocktails, we parted ways by this staircase thats tucked away in the corner of the hotel. I mean how cool is this spiral staircase? It’s like a slightly-tipsy photographer’s dream 🙂

Dreams DO come true and yesterday, one of mine came to life. I went to a cat cafe! It was all that I expected and more.

Crumbs and Whiskers in Georgetown is DC’s very first cat cafe. It’s a cozy little place where they have about 20 cats and all of them are up for adoption. They’re all there for various reasons but every single one of the kitties will totally put a smile on your face when you see them. If you plan on going, try your best to purchase the cat treats. They’re totally worth it because you’ll be the center of attention in the kitty purr-a-dise.

This guy was more interested in my camera than the treats.

Slept the whole time we were there. I don’t think I saw his eyes once.

He was smart. He found the source of the treats and went straight for them.

I mean come on!! He even has a trail of treats next to him and it still didn’t get him up. I still giggle every time I think about this cat.

Loved all the kitties and can’t wait to go back.

Out of all the places to photograph in Washington DC, the Tidal Basin is on top of my list. Why? Because it’s so just so dang easy to find free parking!

Please use the above map for reference.

You can park in Park A, the Paddle Boat Rental parking lot or all along Ohio Drive for up to 3 hours for FREE!!! And I’ve never really had any trouble finding parking in any of those places. The only exception is that you may have to drive for a bit on Ohio Drive to find parking if theres a baseball game or something going on, but free parking for up to 3 hours in Washington DC. Tell me that’s not a deal!!!

However this is not always the case during Cherry Blossom season. The Paddle Boat Rental parking lot is reserved for vendors and the rest is a free-for-all. Best of luck to you my friend. I’ll be there trying to fight the crowds as well.

All joking aside, the Tidal Basin is gorgeous all on its own. I love how you can walk from the Jefferson Memorial and in a few minutes be at the FDR Memorial or MLK Jr. Memorial all the while having fantastic views of the Washington Monument. And don’t even get me started on Cherry Blossom season, probably the best time of year to be in the District.

And I had to add this one last one because I love it so much. Such a crazy foggy morning but the moisture from the Tidal Basin makes this absolutely perfect.

I think I say this every Friday but just for consistency I’m going to say it again. YAY! So excited for the weekend. I don’t have much going on but it’s just a great time to catch up on the things that I didn’t get a chance to do during the week.

Here are 3 things I was grateful for this week…

1. My super awesome graphic designer, Anelise. She rocks.
2. My super awesome cohorts in the Arcanum. Seriously makes my day to socialize with such amazing photographers everyday.
3. A new public speaking opportunity in February. More about that soon…
