Hey Everyone!
Guess where I am!! MEXICO!! Actually not right now because I’m writing this ahead of time, but get ready for some awesome images of Cozumel next week 🙂 The main reason why I’m going is to go scuba diving, but I’ll try to sneak some shots of the beaches.

Now, heres what happened this past week:
I visited the Thomas Jefferson Memorial at sunrise and the Memorial Bridge at sunset.
I took another trip to Great Falls National Park and learned a lot from my experience there.
Then I brought it back to earlier in the summer when I visited a sunflower field in Southern Maryland.
Finally, to round out the week I posted a new image of the Library of Congress in DC.

I was also featured in Fun in Fairfax for the very first time!

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Not only does is the Library of Congress beautiful, but its got to be one of my favorite interiors in DC. The first time I visited it I think I was so blown away by the architecture that I got kinda overwhelmed. I didn’t come out with that many images and I knew there was so much potential for more. So, I went back again and got a little frustrated by all the people there. Umm don’t you know I have a daily blog to keep up? HAHA JK. It was pretty cool to hear people’s initial reactions to the interior.

When I went to McKee Beshers last month, I was really excited about shooting the field of sunflowers. When I got there, I found that getting close-ups of the flowers were much more interesting. It could of been the lack of color in the sky but here’s the first one I took. Next year I definitely want to go more than once so I could try to get the sky I’m look for. I’m kinda disappointed that I only went once this year.

It is so humid nowadays that when I came back from this shoot, my shirt was soaking with sweat 🙂 Pretty picture right?

So, I went to my usual spot where I thought I could get a nice sunset image. I was really uninspired. I took a few shots, but nothing was really wowing me. I decided just to wait a little bit and hoped that the sky would change in a couple of minutes. So, listening to my ipod and no one being around, I felt as though I could sing and dance along with my music. Good thing my music was so inspiring cuz I would of never have turned around and looked downstream to see the sky was gorgous in the other direction! The funny thing was that after I took this image, I turned around again, and my original sunset spot was beautiful.

There was nothing particulary difficult or challenging about this shoot. I had to be patient waiting for some boats to clear the way and hoping for some nice light from the sunset. Other that it was pretty smooth.

It’s getting pretty difficult to figure new places to go around DC, especially for sunset because there are very limited spots where the sunset actaully looks good.

I know I’ve been to the Jefferson a lot, especially during Cherry Blossom season, but its one of those places that always looks good during sunrise or sunset. It doesn’t matter! I love how theres beautiful reflections and how the sun always rises right by the monument. During this shoot I learned that the sun rises pretty slowly, so you can take your camera and walk around to find a better composition.

I started off behind the monument, hoping to get a different angle then what I am used to. Then I realized that I wasn’t getting any of the color. Although I did like the original composition, I want that color! I picked up my camera and walked over by the tidal basin. Another thing I need to do more often, besides walking around to find my composition, I need to try different angles with my camera. Bringing my tripod up or down, shooting horizontally or vertically, but most of all try all new perpectives. To be honest, this image kinda looks like another image I posted a few months ago, but this one is way better.
