Went out expecting a foggy morning and got the total opposite. I ain’t mad thou. Views like this is definietly a welcomed surprise.
washington monument

I used to always be able to count on parking on 22nd street. It was like my little secret spot to access the Lincoln Memorial easily and conveniently without worrying about occupied parking spots. I guess the people at Capital Bikeshare learned my little secret and decided to put a bike share stand there that takes up half the parking spots. CURSES!!! Now theres never parking there.
Oh well, Roosevelt Bridge is more scenic anyways…
CRAZY foggy morning last week. I was so excited when I saw this. I’ve NEVER seen the monument like this before.
So, a lot of people have been asking me where I was standing when I shot this. Its funny because I was just standing at the Tidal Basin. Nothing really special or unusual. So many people commented thinking that I was up in the air somewhere, flying a drone or maybe even at the old post office. Nope. Just standing on beautiful planet earth when I captured this.
I’m not sure how it happened but I spent a lot of time off from taking pictures in December. I think I was using cold, windy weather as an excuse. So it felt awesome when I got back out and shot my first sunrise of 2017. It was still cold and windy but I missed wondering around with my camera. I don’t want another long break like that to happen for a long time.

Cuz I couldn’t make it to the first one, the second sunrise of the year was just as nice. The fog and predawn colors were definietly worth the early morning wake up call. I’m really looking forward to 2017 and capturing even more images than last year 🙂

Obviously most of my images are of the DC monuments because its home to me. In between travel, these monuments are the best places to go and practice my craft and to discover new angles.
No matter how many times I go, I never get tired of these amazing views.
Part 2: DC Monuments
In no particular order… Click the image to find the original blog post and the story behind it.

We had so many summer storms this year, it was awesome! This was the sunset right when as one was moving in.

Cutest paddle boats ever. They make me smile every time I see them. Especially if they were lined up in a row like this.

I love this image because it may never happen again. Click the image to find out why there will never be another one like it.

My favorite part of this image is that light reflection down the center, left side of the image. So cool to see how it reflects.

Another lightning strike. This one is a little harder to make out but the mood on this was is just how I wanted it.

I was in Tokyo for the peak of the Cherry Blossoms this year. I was a little sad about it but still managed to capture the last bit of it when we got back home.
Wonder what tomorrow is going to be? Check back tomorrow to find out.
In case you missed it, here are my favorite images from my travels in 2016.
