I had no idea it was suppose to storm on Saturday, but all of the sudden the clouds came rolling in. Good thing I didn’t have any plans for around sunset time so I was able to go out and shoot. It was a lucky surprise to see the rainbow, but I didn’t even see the beginning of the second rainbow until I brought the images up onto my computer. So cool to see what the camera picks up and not your eyes.
One morning when it was crazy foggy out. So fun to see and photograph.
There must of been something good behind me. Everyone was facing the wrong direction. Or was it me? I don’t think so. I think the puddle made for a much more interesting image.
Everyday I sit at my computer and I try to come up with something happy, upbeat, or fun to say in these blog posts. Some days its more difficult than others. Today I just feel sad. Please lets all just concentrate on peace.
Love summer storms. They just seem to be more dramatic than any other season. Am I right? Is it because of the warmer air? I don’t know but they’re awesome. Not to self: No white tshirts when out shooting dramatic clouds. That never ends well.
One last thing about the fireworks last night. The rain sucked. It had been raining on and off all afternoon and it almost made it not worth it. Jim and I were ready and waiting at NMAAHC by 7p when the fireworks didn’t start til 9:09p. It was obvious others felt the same way because there were not nearly as many people on the Mall as there usually is. I’d guess at least half of what it was last year. So we were standing in the rain for over an hour before it stopped. It turned out ok because it left a nice reflective glow on the sidewalks but the automatic sprinklers that turned 9:00p was an unexpected surprise. But with the low hanging clouds, it was difficult to see the really big, tall fireworks from where we were standing. We could hear the sounds and see the colors in the sky but just couldn’t see them. At least they added this special glow to the sky.
