I’ve been waking up for sunrise for years. So much so that it’s hard for me to sleep in anymore. I remember back in college I used to wake up at noon and it’d be the best ever. Now I can’t even sleep past 8a if I tried. Sunday morning was no exception. I actually woke up 10 minutes prior to the time I’d usually wake up for sunrise because I had to go to the bathroom. I looked at the time and was like, “if I’m up anyways, I might as well go take some pictures”. Glad this day didn’t disappoint 🙂

This may have been about 10 minutes before I captured the lightning image. We were so incredibly lucky to get such an amazing sky for the meetup group last week. It couldn’t of been a better time. Drinks, friends, photography, and a gorgeous sky.

So about the fun week I’m about to have. As you’re reading this, I’m probably on my way down to Lake Anna for the week with the family. So excited to spend time in the sun and out on the boat!

Another week zoomed by and I can’t believe it’s already Friday again! I got kinda sick for one of the days but luckily that only lasted for a day. Other than that it I was busy preparing for a super fun week next week which I’m sure I’ll share more about then 🙂

Here’s what made me smile the past week:

1. Going to Kings Dominon with Andrew and our nephews. It was the first time we had ever taken them to an amusement park so it was super fun to hangout with them for the day. My favorite line was when we were deciding if we were going to get a funnel cake or not and my youngest nephew, Marshall said “I’m a kid, calories don’t count!” Meaning he wanted a funnel cake asap. HAHA

2. Meeting up with Navin and his awesome meetup group for Photo Happy Hour and Sunset shooting. So fun see friends again and meet new ones 🙂 This image was taken last night around sunset. My first ever lightning strike! Also special thanks to David, Jeffrey and Juan from my Arcanum cohort for your special feedback.

3. This video. You have to watch the whole thing.

This almost didn’t happen. My original intention was to take pictures of the Air Force Memorial, but I couldn’t find parking. So I decided to skip it and go home. As I was driving home, I noticed the colors in the sky started changing and I was closer to Iwo Jima than I was anything else. So I turned around again and went to the Marine Corp Memorial. Glad I did. And I’m glad that the clouds lined up perfectly to make it look like it was exploding out of the memorial.
