This may have been about 10 minutes before I captured the lightning image. We were so incredibly lucky to get such an amazing sky for the meetup group last week. It couldn’t of been a better time. Drinks, friends, photography, and a gorgeous sky.

So about the fun week I’m about to have. As you’re reading this, I’m probably on my way down to Lake Anna for the week with the family. So excited to spend time in the sun and out on the boat!

This almost didn’t happen. My original intention was to take pictures of the Air Force Memorial, but I couldn’t find parking. So I decided to skip it and go home. As I was driving home, I noticed the colors in the sky started changing and I was closer to Iwo Jima than I was anything else. So I turned around again and went to the Marine Corp Memorial. Glad I did. And I’m glad that the clouds lined up perfectly to make it look like it was exploding out of the memorial.

It started to rain as I was taking this shot of the Washington Monument. Fortunately, I brought my umbrella. Unfortunately, it was so windy that the umbrella actually blew apart and I had no choice but to run under a tree for shelter. That was definitely the first time I’d ever experience rain like that while I was out shooting. It was kinda fun 🙂
