Capturing this image was NOT EASY! We hiked about half the Hanakapiai trail. 4 miles in 4 miles out and a whole lot of uphill and downhill. So steep that I thought I was going to fall a few times. Carrying the camera and tripod did not make it any easier.

Before I go out to take pictures, especially sunrise, I like to google places to go. Lydgate Beach Park came up multiple times as one of the best places to watch the sunrise in Kauai. Although the sunrise itself wasn’t spectacular, I had a great time exploring the area.

Driving along Maui’s Hana Coast is amazing! It’s this long winding road that has these amazing views of the ocean and beautiful cliffs along the way. Towards the end, after the town of Hana, we stopped to walk along a 4 mile trail through a bamboo forrest. To be honest, the hike wasn’t bad. I think what made it better was the wild fruit along the trail that we’d pick and try.

At the end of this trail is this beautiful 200ft waterfall. So cool!!

When we first arrived in Hawaii we were so jet lagged, we were waking up at 4 am. Getting up for sunrise was NO problem. Luckily, Maui has this beautiful drive up Haleakala volcano that is beautiful for tourists to visit when they can’t sleep.

Aloha!

I’m home from Hawaii and it was AMAZING! Do I say that about every trip I come back from? But this time was really amazing.

I’m still going through my pics and sorting them out, but here’s one from Oahu. One of our last days there, we decided we’d been eating too much hawaiian food and needed to go on a hike. If you want a workout, go over to Koko Head. As soon as we pulled up I was scared! The trail goes straight up the crater and its intense. The image is the view from the very top. Well worth the climb.
