The Jefferson memorial has a beautiful entry way. I’ve seen people get married on these steps and their pictures must turn out beautiful!

Is it me or is the Jefferson Memorial the forgotten memorial when it comes to photography? It seems as though everyone always photographs the monuments that are on the mall, but this one. Maybe because its off to the side and to get a good view you have to walk around the entire tidal basin? Maybe it’s because the Jefferson gets all the attention during Cherry Blossom season? Who knows!
Yesterday’s sunrise could not have been any better!
Finally! The cherry blossom are here! All the weather people and NPS predicted it was going to be this past weekend, but I think the weather was a little too cold for the flowers. We finally had a warm day yesterday and all of the sudden, this morning at the tidal basin looked totally different. I know it’s just the beginning of the bloom but it’s still really exciting. You know where I’ll be all week!
We had some pretty heavy rain over the weekend. It was kinda nice because it gave me a little break from going out shooting. Sunday afternoon, I looked out the window and it was so sunny out with beautiful clouds that I had to go back to the tidal basin. I had to see if the rain knocked down all the cherry blossoms. Unfortunately, they are pretty much done 🙁 There goes cherry blossom 2012 season.
I woke up this morning and KNEW I was going to get an awesome sunrise. Do you ever have one of those days where you’re like, “Man, today is going to be an awesome day”.
As I drove toward DC I could see the sky just getting better and more colorful. When you actually get there, you see the potomac on either side of you and the sky was reflecting so beautifuly on the water, I really wished I could of just pulled over on the side of the street and took pics right there. My original intention was to take pics at the Capitol again, to get the original pic I intended for, but that reflection was just way too amazing so I quickly made up my mind to head over to the tidal basin. As soon as I got there, I was so disappointed. You can usually see the sunrise perfectly behind the Jefferson, but it was too cloudy. It’s so crazy how much views can change. Oh well, I’m still happy with this shot.
