I love taking images of the sky when it’s super cloudy. It brings a new life to the monuments, especially when they are seen all the time. This one makes the Capitol seem so small.

This morning at the Capitol was crazy foggy! When I first got there around 6:45, I could barely see anything. Luckily, as the sun rose, the capitol building started showing up more and more. I love the little ball of light peaking through the clouds.
In preparation for the 2013 Inauguration, I headed to the Capitol to see what it was like. I was surprised to see that the Friday before the big day, most of the chairs have already been put out, along with the big screen tv and American flags. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t look like this today 🙂

The US Capitol building at sunrise. This image was particularly hard since no tripods are allowed at the capitol and security is always on the lookout.
I’m not sure what these glass panes are. I think they might be the roof to a cool staircase below? Or maybe very cool seating for the outdoors. Either way it makes for a great shot.
Hand held 3 exposure HDR image. Yea! It’s hard to stay that still during the exposures. You just gotta hold your breath.
