the mall

While the Thomas Jefferson Memorial is under scaffolding from the exterior, you are still able to go climb up the steps and go in the interior. However, some of the side openings that allowed you to walk all around the base of the memorial are blocked off, everything else looks pretty much the same.

As we were walking through, I noticed the beautiful sunlight that was coming through some of those openings. So I did what any person with a camera would do, take a shadow selfie that made my legs look extra long 🙂

My camera settings for this image are F9 at 1/1000th sec and ISO 500 with my Sony A7II and 16-35mm wide-angle lens.

Got this amazing view one evening at the Capitol. I had been there so many times, I was frantic trying to find a different view. That’s when I told myself that I had to stop, take a moment to breathe and something cool will come. I set my camera for a slow shutter speed and got these cool fast moving clouds looking as if they were ready to storm.

All the times that I’ve been the Lincoln Memorial, its never really occured to me to step outside and take a picture of the whole moument itself. It’s so beautiful, especially at night when the lights on the monument are turned on.

In all actually this image was not intended. I finally made it to the Martin Luther King Memorial and spent most of my time there. Walking back to my car, I walked past the Lincoln and had to stop and take a picture. The sky was beautiful with just the right amount of clouds to make the sky more exciting.

I thought my blog needed a little more color.

Capturing this image made me think of summer carnivals. Those are the best, greasy food, fun rides, and tons of games. I can’t wait til the carnival comes around to take some night shots of all the lights. That will be a lot of fun. Til then..
